Porting

Go back to Existing customers

Applying to port an existing product to a new property

Follow the steps below

1) Porting criteria – which cases are eligible for porting?

Before you apply to port a case it’s important to check to see if your client’s needs meet the criteria, including:

  • What types of cases are eligible for porting?
  • What are the LTV limits?
  • Are ERCs payable?

For a complete guide to the porting criteria for C&G mortgages above, please click here to see our porting lending policy section, or call our product and policy line on 0845 604 1206.

2) What products are available for additional borrowing during porting applications?

i.   To see which products your client is eligible for if borrowing more at the same time as porting, it’s important to understand how the LTV limits work for the new total borrowing. Please read our LTV limits porting criteria section.

ii.  If your client wants to borrow more when porting their existing product, see our current mainstream and buy-to-let house purchase product ranges to find the products available for the additional borrowing at the same time as porting. All lending is subject to criteria.

If you need any further guidance on the products available for your client’s further borrowing, call our product and policy helpline on 0845 604 1206 who’ll be happy to help.

3) How to apply to port a case

Applications to port a C&G mortgage must be completed using a paper application form. The following steps will guide you on how to submit a case to us.

Key Fact Illustration – To produce a KFI for you and your client simply download and complete a KFI Application Form. Once completed simply fax it to 0845 600 2875.

Full Mortgage Application – To get a Full Mortgage Application form to complete, you will need to download the Mortgage Decision in Principle and Application form*. This must then be posted to us along with payment for any fees using the Mortgage Application Fees form. *However, if your client wants to port an existing C&G Offset Mortgage, you'll need to download and complete the Offset Saver form. For further guidance call us on 0845 603 6082.

4) What fees apply and how to pay them

In addition to sending in the Full Mortgage Application, you’ll need to complete a Mortgage Application Fees form for the relevant fees. To check what your clients will need to pay, please see the list below.

Application fee

A £99 application is due for all porting applications. Please see the application fee page for further details.

If your case involves a transfer of equity, please call the product and policy line on 0845 604 1206.

Product Fee

Where the applicant is taking out further borrowing, if the further borrowing rate that they apply for carries a product fee then this will be automatically added to the loan amount. Customers will have a period of 30 days in which to pay the fee before it begins to attract interest. Please see the product fee page for further details.

Valuation

There will be a valuation fee payable on all house purchases, including porting applications (both residential and buy-to-let). Please see our valuation fees page for further details.

To pay these fees you will need to download a Mortgage Application Fees form.

Transfer of funds fee

£35 transfer of funds fee is applicable on all porting applications and will be added to the loan amount. Customers will have a period of 30 days in which to pay the fee before it begins to attract interest. Please see the transfer of funds fee page for further details.
