Intermediary privacy statement

To facilitate the C&G Intermediary Service and to comply with regulatory requirements, we need to obtain certain information about you and your company. You will have registered to use this service and we also obtain information from you when you access the site. This section explains how this information is used and how we protect your privacy.

What information does C&G hold about me and my company?

In your application for the C&G Intermediary service, you provide us with a range information including your firm's contact details; name, address and registration number. You also provide your banking details for the payment of fees.

In addition, you will have given some memorable information. This is used to verify your identity in case you encounter problems with your user name and password.

You may also register details of any intermediary administrators so they may administer mortgage applications for you on the web-site.

If you wish, you can register your e-mail address to receive updates about C&G mortgage products and their interest rates. This facility can be cancelled at any time, or you may choose to unsubscribe at the time of receiving a message from C&G.

Is C&G's Intermediary website service secure?

When you visit the Intermediary web site, you can browse the latest C&G product information in the brochureware section, or you may submit applications using the on-line application service. The Intermediary online mortgage application service is hosted on a secure server, which uses the best security techniques available.

Security is achieved using a system called the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, which provides 128 bit strength encryption. This automatically encrypts your Internet connection with the C&G Intermediary Service so that information passed between you and C&G is scrambled. This prevents anyone else from reading or changing the information as it moves over the internet.

You can easily tell when you're connected to the secure server - a small closed padlock icon will appear at the bottom of your browser screen.

We also use firewalls that prevent unauthorised users accessing both your and customers' information on C&G mortgage systems.

Information which you send us is only made available to a restricted number of specialist staff, and each application is issued with a unique reference number which is verified when you contact us.

How can I use the Intermediary Service safely?

To help maintain the security of this site, please note the following guidelines.

When you first register for the C&G Intermediary Service, you will choose a username and a password. You will be asked to supply this online when submitting applications.

Make sure you use at least 6 characters (always use a mixture of both letters & numbers) for both your username and your password.

It is advisable not to use the names of family members, pets, or dates of birth. Also, try to change your password every month.

Never write down (or store on your computer) your username, password or the answers to any of your additional security questions, as these are your key to accessing the service and your customer details held on our secure server.

If you suspect that someone else knows your username, password or the answers to any of your additional security questions, then contact us immediately.

Never leave your computer unattended when you are signed in to the C&G Intermediary Service.

Always sign off (by clicking on the "sign off" or "log off" button) when you are finished. Don't just disconnect from the Internet or shut down your computer.
Ensure others, apart from a customer you are dealing with, can't see your computer screen when you are using the on-line application service, or viewing customer details.

How do you use 'Cookies'?

A 'cookie' is a small piece of information that is held as a text file on the hard drive of your computer. This allows our web server to recognise that you have visited before. The use of cookies makes it easier for you to use the site, such as avoiding the need to re-key identifying data. It also gives us the potential both to personalise your visit and track your progress through the site. This information may be used to improve the quality of service we provide to you. Cookies will not give us the ability to gain wider information about your use of the Internet, other than on the C&G site.

Why have you e-mailed me marketing information?

C&G has an Intermediary e-mail service, which provides the latest C&G mortgage product information and notifies changes of interest rates. We will only send these e-mails if you have asked us to do so.

If you would like to receive these e-mails, please either register using the facility on the homepage of this website or contact your local C&G Business Development Manager.

Please note email updates will be provided to you, in place of the fax service.

If you don't want to receive further e-mails just click on the unsubscribe link on the e-mail.
